Virgin Going Social

image Virgin is launching their new site with a social twist in mind. It was just announced at Future Of Web Apps in Miami that such internet stars as Gary Vaynerchuk, as well as Virgin’s own Richard Branson, and FOWA organizer Ryan Carson will be providing content for the new site. The part that has me scratching my head is the next item. They are going to implement Facebook Connect.

Facebook Connect is quite robust at what it can do and even the below sounds really interesting to try, but are we not all Facebook connected enough while we are grounded? Do we really need to be Facebook connected while flying?

With this implementation of Facebook Connect, you could in theory send a drink to someone on the plane from your seat to where they are sitting. Not only that, you could end up showing everyone you know what you are doing in your seat while flying.

On one hand this is very cool, and on the other side of the coin, it seems like that Facebook has too much pull into our lives. Not only that, when I fly, I like to sleep and listen to music!
