Starting Friday: SiliconANGLE’s SxSW Coverage
You may have noticed a diminished posting volume from me lately. Preparing the schedule and pre-written posts for the SxSW conference has been a lot more work than I had anticipated, but the amount of interesting interviews and truly noteworthy startups that we’ll be privy to.
You can catch the coverage across a number of different sites to catch the breadth of what we’re getting access to.
Live Panel Coverage
I’ve picked a number of conferences that range from discussion of online video, Heritage Media’s transition to New Media, conversations about Singularity, and a variety of other social media panels. The panels at SxSW have been described as college level material – except none of the classes suck. I’ve tried to pick the best of the best, and I’ll be liveblogging it all from my personal domain, rizzn.com.
When you tune into my site today, you’ll see a major design update.
It contains a embedded video window and chatroom from UStream, which will alternate between my panel coverage, my interviews, and the official live stream (where I and a cadre of other personalities like Robert Scoble, Leo Laporte, Marc Canter will be appearing regularly). This video window on my site will be the only place to catch all of this.
Panel Podcasts
The official live stream for SxSW is being hosted by UStream this year, and they’ll be broadcasting live from the Belmont Lounge. Michael Sean Wright has done most of the work in putting together a star-studded lineup of tech stars and great bands. Leo Laporte, Marc Canter, Robert Scoble, Chris Willman, Dr. Tony Shore, Lucas Hendrickson and myself will all be making recurring appearances on the channel, and that’s just the first day.
The Belmont is also playing host to the festival’s blogger lounge, so there will be plenty of other recognizable names that will be likely stopping by. This will be my base of operations during most of the festival, so if I’m not broadcasting or interviewing from a panel or event elsewhere (see Rizzn.com for my current location), this is probably where you’ll find me.
If you’d rather see the official view of the event rather than my edited view, you’ll want to set the official livestream page (http://ustream.tv/sxsw) as your bookmark for the duration.
Reviews and Interviews
The middle column is simply a live feed of my SxSW room on FriendFeed, which will be available for anyone to join, post or comment to. Since my coverage will be spread across a few sites, the room will be pre-populated by my posts at rizzn.com, SiliconANGLE and the Inquisitr.
The type of posts that’ll be coming out of me this week are a mix of videoed interviews, panel liveblogging, and startup reviews. If you don’t have time to religiously check each site, just stay tuned to rizzn.com or the FriendFeed Rizzn SXSW Group, and direct links to all my posts will pop up in the stream.
Other Places to Catch Coverage
Other than the Inquisitr, and UStream, I’ve one more generous sponsor that is putting out a SxSW tailored news product: OneSpot.
OneSpot is in the business of creating whitelabel memetrackers, and they’re currently trying to target those in the New Media sector, having already landed a number of reputable Heritage Media clients.
For SxSW, they’ve put together a number of widgets and sites that will track the news coming out of Austin across the entire blogosphere.
You can grab the widget on the side to get the most discussed and most recent items for your own site during the show, or simply refer back periodically to SXSWmeme.
I hope you enjoy our coverage, and if you’re in Austin, contact me via Twitter, email or phone and let’s chat about what you’re up to, or simply leave a comment on this post.
