Innovation is Happening – Can You Recognize It?
The post on Cisco that I just posted thanks to the AP :-) talks about how the opportunities for companies are now for big companies. That being said the big companies aren’t the only ones retrenching. The startup scene has been brewing strong for 8 months now especially early stage startups. Startups are nimble and resourceful. They have the speed of a revolutionary army. Big companies that are doing well have huge bucks and move slow. Everyone in between is either hoping for survival or for a fast economic turnaround.
This is where the innovation is happening – zero and early stage startups and cash-stacked big companies.
My Angle: expect massive innovation from startups in new emerging markets and exploitation of “white-spaces” or gaps in big markerts where BigCo.com operates. For big companies expect consolidation among their peers then watch them roll up those successful startups.
What this means: the only exits for investors or startups is through an acquisition market. It’s brutal, but that is the reality. These are the cards we are dealt.
Only the strong will survive. Let the games begin.
