Jeremy is big on messaging. He is all about taking the EMC messaging and scaling it. EMC is big and has resources and Jermey wants to leverage that to tell the EMC story. On advertising spend EMC spends very little on advertising as a total of revenue as compared to the big guys like IBM.
Who will win the cloud is the big thing on Jeremy’s mind. EMC wants to “up their game” in marketing according to Jeremy. He emphasized social media as a key element of their strategy. He wants to figure out the social media channel and is working on viral content.
Jeremy is edgy and progressive so expect some new creative ways to see EMC in the market. He loves tech marketing because as he says “it’s fun”.
Jeremy goes on to say that the consumerization of IT is a key marketing angle for EMC. Connecting the consumer world and the enterprise world is the way EMC will make storage sexy. He wants to apply consumer techniques to the tech marketing world.
Toward the end of the interview EMC’s CEO Joe Tucci swings by for a visit.
