Teaser for “The Social Network” Released. Roast Coming Soon. [Facebook Movie]
Mashable, apparently, got an exclusive first look at the teaser trailer for “The Social Network,” and got a chance to share it with the rest of the world via their blog.
I’m not sure about you, but as someone who’s covered Facebook nearly since their inception (including pretty close coverage of various portions of the legal “battle” between Mark Zuckerberg and the other alleged co-founders), I find this trailer to be overly-dramatic and over the top. My original intention was to roast it here on the blog, but the video does a pretty decent job of doing that to itself.
I may be interested in seeing the movie (after all, I did watch Antitrust when that came out), but the trailer definitely overplays it’s hand. With the emotional shout-y quotes and the Law & Order-esque music, I feel like I should be seeing some light sabers or something, not a movie about a lawsuit over a website.
As I’m pondering exactly how I’m going to put this in the most hilarious way, it occurred to me that we have a writer on staff that could do this better than I possibly could: Art Lindsey (you may remember him from such posts here at SiliconANGLE, like “You Heard That They’re Making a Facebook Movie, Right?” and “Pete Cashmore Almost Denies an Aol Buyout”).
So I rang him up, and he told me that as soon as he finishes his pizza, I have it on good authority he’ll give the trailer the treatment we all know it deserves. Look for it later this evening.
