Cloudera Co-Founder Amr Awadallah on Hadoop’s Role for the Enterprise

Editor’s Note:  The following is an interview SiliconANGLE founder John Furrier held with Clouder co-founder, Amr Awadallah.  This is one of several in-depth interviews held at the conference, which was streamed live at SiliconANGLE.tv.

Cloudera, a company offering enterprises software, training, certification, technical support and more, is currently in the intense development process towards a promising Apache-based platform called Hadoop. It is anticipated to be  used by a number sizable and interested companies. The platform and the numerous other tools developed around it are designed to significantly simplify the process of transferring, storing, processing and analyzing a broad spectrum of data types, including images, videos, WebCrawlers and more.

“It’s really great to have such an interactive company sitting with us ” says Amr Awadallah, co-founder of Cloudera to John Furrier of SiliconANGLE in this interview, and continues to talk about his company’s aim:  “Cloudera’s mission is to allow companies to profit from all of the data world…’all’ here means data that is of the structured form that fits nicely in tables, but also data which comes from Apache servers, that comes from application servers, that comes from network switches, that comes from action systems, it doesn’t matter.  If it’s the type you can take and put an hour system in, we’ll allow you to make money off it…”

Cloudera has a lot of activity going on around it lately, but with what they have in mind, it’s certainly no wonder. Despite Hadoop and its related tools being aimed specifically for the corporate circle in order for it to offer (among others) “much more customized and tailored” services as quoted by Awadallah, Cloudera will make waves that reach the average user. This will consequently create a massive amount of buzz and demand (as well as competition) by and among service providers all across the world, and generate an extremely profitable near future for Cloudera.
