Sugar Inc. Acquires MyPerfectSale, Building International Empire
Looks like the family of women’s online media is about to get a little smarter, Sugar Inc. has bought MyPerfectSale. Sugar Inc. is a leading international online media company—emphasis on the international when it comes to MyPerfectSale. The buy certainly dovetails nicely with Sugar Inc.’s current ties to the industry by giving viewers access to MyPerfectSale’s shopping network and sale alerts. The newly acquired company also runs DesigerApparel.com, which is a fashion shopping network that helps customers find good products and prices across US department stores and fashion boutiques.
The announcement makes its debut on Sugar Inc.’s site news,
“We are excited to add MyPerfectSale’s large membership base to ShopStyle’s network. MyPerfectSale will now be able to leverage ShopStyle’s network to increase its reach and differentiation in this fast-growing market,” said Andy Moss, President of Sugar Inc.’s ShopStyle.
“When we started Sugar four years ago, we believed future online media leaders would delight their audiences by combining content and commerce,” said Brian Sugar, founder and CEO of Sugar Inc. “MyPerfectSale has done a tremendous job growing their business and we are excited to have them join our commerce team.”
The international reach of Sugar Inc. will likely catapult MyPerfectSale into high flying social engagement as it will allow them to extend beyond the US into Sugar Inc.’s holdings in the UK, Japan, France, Germany, and Australia. Looking at their success in the States and how well their industry connects with Sugar’s, it looks like a match made in heaven.
Media certainly drives the fashion industry—in fact, the who’s who and who’s wearing what can certainly make the clothing more than the clothing makes the woman. Already the fashion industry is a multi-billion dollar venture for numerous corporations who spend millions a year on shows, catalogs, marketing, all forms of media that need all the glitz, glam and eyeballs they can get to stay in the game. As a result, we can probably expect the movers and shakers of haute couture to court Sugar Inc. in order to boost their own bottom line.
