From CFO to CEO, Qlogic’s Biddiscombe Replaces Incumbent Desai
Board of directors at storage adapter QLogic has appointed the company CFO Simon Biddiscombe to replace its 15-year incumbent CEO H K Desai, as he becomes executive chairman. This appointment has been long speculated, dating back to April of the previous year, and will finally take effect starting November 15, 2010. The company is currently looking for a new CFO. Biddiscombe first served the company April of 2008.
Desai will now be supervising technology and product roadmaps, and is expected to serve as executive chairman for at least three more year. He will be looking after Biddiscombe during his continued service as executive chairman for the company.
“I look forward to supporting Simon for at least the next three years in my role as executive chairman,” said Desai. #memeconnect #qlogic
The company will need good direction moving forward, as it’s in the center of the cloud computing storm. QLogic has had a series of product launches and upgrades, building out a robust network for retaining and attracting new clients. As far as the CEO change goes, the internal restructuring is in all a good move for the company.
“Successions at companies are always hot topics, but this one isn’t surprising,” says Stuart Miniman, analyst at Wikibon.org. “At QLogic’s recent analyst briefing, HK Desai showcased the company’s bench of talent, including CFO Simon Biddiscombe, to Wall Street financial analysts. HK will continue to provide guidance in the role of executive chairman, while Simon provides a smooth transition. QLogic’s leadership team has the company primed for the tough battle for leadership in next generation converged infrastructure with strong market positions, products and financials.”
