IBM Now Offers Mobile Metrics for iPhone, BlackBerry

Cognos 10, the new software created by Cognos Inc. for IBM, aims to bring new analytics tools for mobile metrics.  And there could be a big win in it for IBM, as it places big bets on the mobile market. IBM has invested over $14 billion on instruments for the introduction of this analytics software for iPhones and Blackberrys, these investments being considered to bring around $16 billion in sales in the next five years and about 1.19 billion mobile workers by 2013.

Among the customers of this new software, there are Hertz Global Holdings Inc, the largest car-rental brand in the world who will be carrying out customer-care surveys by text messages. Cognos 10 will gather, analyze and describe information on store-performance.

Cognos 10 is suitable for models of Blackberry and Apple phones. Following the path, the mobile industry is set to drive Cloud Computing, meeting thus business needs in terms of reduced costs, rapidity, reliability and analytic skills.  It’s a vertical for IBM, which we’ve been seeing a great deal of lately.  Analytics are of particular interest to businesses, and the need for mobile-related metrics is increasing, as business tools and marketing head in this direction.

It’s an example of the direct relationship between the cloud and the mobile sector, which are very much intertwined.  We’re following the trends closely, as they provide a number of opportunities for businesses to take advantage of.  Analytics, especially built into larger offerings from within IBM, makes for an integrated and more streamlined methodology around gaining information on consumer and business behavior.
