India Wins in BlackBerry Messenger and Email Services
The Canadian company Research In Motion Ltd. was warned by the Indian authorities that the company’s email and messenger services will be banned if the second mentioned is not to come with solutions to the monitoring issue. The Indian government has officially control over the BlackBerry messages for more than a month.
The Indian federal home minister added in an interview “(…)RIM has set up an interim arrangement for lawful interception of Blackberry, or BBM services”.
The Blackberry’s messenger service provider was initially given as deadline the end of August to monitor the service. The Indian authorities are now testing the accessibility of data via different media such as internet, voice calls or text messages. It is said that they will come up with a report of their finding by the end of October.
Until now, the RIM officials haven’t commented the news and it seams that their lack of response to the Indian threat of ban is a positive outcome for the security concerns.
