YouTube CEO Chad Hurley announced that he is taking a break from his role in the company, but joining on an advisory position. Additionally, Salar Kamanagar will take over the Hurley’s responsibilities, who is currently at the position of Vice- President of Google web applications.
YouTube, the video site by Google was launched by Hurley along with Steve Chan and Jared Karim in 2005.
“Right now I am in the process of transitioning into the role of adviser, stepping down, still being involved in the company but it’s given me an opportunity to work on new projects,” Hurley said.
Today, YouTube proudly boasts of around two billion page views per day and has got a subscriber base of 1 Billion! Some of the billionaires on this video site include Lady GaGa, whose success on YouTube was driven by video clicks of “Bad Romance”, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”.
Another YouTube billionaire is the MachinimaSports, an online sports channel and content partner. This clearly reflects that online video is growing on multiple levels, content distribution and marketing. The recent Boxee Box partnership confirms the same.
