Google Instant iPhone Love

Google’s presence is becoming more and more felt, starting with Chrome and now being available on certain smartphones.  Now on the iPhone, Google Instant is making a speedy entry into the mobile market.  This release comes on the heels of its Android mobile search integration, and an update on Chrome.  In all, Google’s being relatively speedy with the Instant roll out, having just launched the product in the past few weeks.

Google also included  a ‘turn on/off’ option for the iPhone Instant search feature.  It makes sense, as many consumers will want to have control over this new Google add-on.  Mobile browsing still tends to be slower than PC browsing, and having an opt-out rather than risk the chance of frequent blank query screens is somthing I can appreciate.

With Google Instant, the search engine is really expanding on its search reach, and it’s clear that its intentions with Instant aren’t going anywhere.  A recent study indicates that Google Instant is even having a positive effect on search advertising, which demonstrates that Google is successfully managing the conversion to its new product.  Google’s also updating a number of its mobile services, branching off apps like Gmail and YouTube, while launching new map search features, with integration with its primary search, as with Places.

The idea is to collectively ward off competition from all fronts, including Facebook, which just announced its mobile platform, and Groups and Places apps on the Android platform as well.
