Tremor Media, ScanScout Join Forces to Conquer Online Video

Tremor Media today announced the acquisition of ScanScout, combining two industry-leading technologies to form a top player in the online video sector.  The leading advertisement company and video innovator plan on expanding their joint operations against YouTube, Hulu and others. The combination of their Acudeo and ScanScout’s SE2 in-stream video technologies definitely represents a strong opponent to reckon with, and fulfills ScanScout’s vision to build its content database through partnership.

“By combining Tremor Media’s scale and robust publisher platform with ScanScout’s unrivaled brand protection and optimization technologies, we are creating the preeminent leader in interactive video advertising”

Along with the newly appointed Executive Chairman and CEO, Tremor Media is now out to provide just about everything advertisers and investors have been looking for in  video ad campaigns: reaching a specific sizable audience at specific times; achieving that with flawless distribution and last but not least, immediate results reports and targeted campaign optimization.  These are all very ambitious goals, but going head to head against very well established competitors requires a lot of ingenuity, and a budget to match – something Tremor CEO Bill Day highlighted to have.

Competition in the online video sector is definitely getting fiercer, as Tremor Media is not the only one who’s expanding. Many growing industry trends are getting momentum these days as Hulu is adding more content and spreading to more devices since the dawn of Hulu Plus, now available on Sony BRAVIA 2010 TVs and openly for PS3. Netflix is also pushing its fronts with a growing number of partners, and Apple and Google are developing an array of distribution gateways.
