Internet and High Technology Coverage in U.S. Depending on Annual Income
Mapping the usage of internet depending on the average income in American households, Pew Research Center study indicate that higher income houses are more inclined to use internet for reading the daily news, for paying the debts or entertainment. The striking percentage of 95% of over medium income houses that uses internet on a daily basis is in opposition with the households that earn less than $75,000 per year. Those in the second category are using internet frequently just in a smaller proportion of 70%.![]()
The same study proved that higher-income houses have high speed access to internet in a percentage of 93%, while in the opposing class the enhanced connections have penetrated only 83% of the houses.
In the same range of high-end technologies, the study indicates that the favored category of handsets are the higher income users too, with a coverage of 95%, while at the opposite pole only 83% of the population has a certain type of mobile phone. Email usage and news gathering over internet respects the same pattern, with a percentage of 93% for the first category, 80% respectively for the second one.
The penetration of the high technologies and the use of internet for different activities spreads the used into two group, the leading one being represented by the higher income user, who are the online active participants.
