Cisco and BMC Software Progress Cloud Computing in Strategic Partnership

Tech giants Cisco and BMC software announced a partnership that will stem and market new, more potent solutions for large-scale multi-tenant cloud computing infrastructures.  This strategic alliance will build on individual cloud expertise to line up product roadmaps and technology architectures in an effort to develop a suite of cloud service delivery solutions.

“Cisco and BMC have a common vision for advancing Cloud computing with unified infrastructure combined with seamless management. The Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform enables our customers to deploy end-to-end IT services running on a cloud infrastructure that spans networks, systems, storage and applications,” said Padmasree Warrior, CTO, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise, Commercial and Small Business for Cisco.

The solution will be backed with joint undertakings in marketing, services, sales, testing and certification to increase the adaptability to the new cloud solutions. Cisco brings in in-depth understanding of how customers build services on Cisco’s industry-leading IP network and unified computing infrastructure technology, and how it came to establish a flourishing relationship with the world’s largest global carriers and internet service.

BMC, on the other hand, has its expertise on Business Service Management, which will bring in innovative software solutions that will link cloud and information technology (IT) services to the shifting business needs.  As agreed on the joint solutions, Cisco will resell BMC’s Service Assurance and Compliance solutions as a preference on the Cisco Unified system.

The Integrated Cloud Delivery Platform is at service for large-scale cloud providers in eliminating complex manual steps in cloud computing service set-up and provision. The solution is built on BMC’s Cloud LifeCycle Management (CLM)a comprehensive cloud computing software orchestration and management solution, with Cisco’s data center networking, compute, and storage solutions. The integrated system is a combination of Cisco’s Unified Service Delivery solution and BMC’s CLM capabilities specifically designed to operate large-scale private, public and hybrid cloud environments with efficiency, quality and reduced complexity.

“Cisco and BMC have created a major innovation in cloud-based service delivery. The value of their highly secure network container cannot be underestimated. It serves as a key building block that significantly eliminates time consuming manual setup, integration and provisioning times commonly found in large-scale cloud service integration projects, while simultaneously providing the flexibility to respond to an individual customer’s preferences with customized service attributes.

In this area, Ericsson, acting as prime contractor for the Telefónica cloud computing network, will provide its integration skills in order to align the cloud offering in all the Telefónica regions, which will help Telefónica to reduce costs and improve the time-to-market of the new cloud computing services,” Jose Antonio Lopez, global account vice president for Ericsson.
