Google Doodle Spreads Holiday Cheer for Another Year

The holiday card from Google was revealed on the 23rd of December, and it consists of 17 images of holiday scenes from around the world, created by a team of five artists during 250 hours of work. The famous Doodle displayed by Google on different occasions throughout the year, such as national and international holidays and scientific achievements, is present above the search engine’s logo in the United States and the rest of the world.

Since 1998 when the first Doodle was launched, Google has displayed over 900 doodles ever since, taking into consideration the particularities of each and all countries and compromising so as not to offend any of them. During 2010, about 270 doodles were displayed and Michael Lopez, the Web Design Lead for Google has left his mark over Google’s holiday greetings. Until now, on occasions such as Christmas, only gift bows and snowmen were doodles, but this year, Michael Lopez took a more creative approach, having displayed the first video doodle, video game doodle and hologram doodle.
Google is open to new suggestions in order to keep up with the numerous religious celebrations and holidays from all over the world. They even created an email address, proposal@google.com, where users can submit any ideas.

The doodle is a sound tool for branding for Google since the search engine is accessed by users who type more than a billion searches a day. The doodle enables Google to engage with its users and increase its brand image.
