HP-ex Mark Hurd Continues to Fight Accusation

As the Guardian covered here, Hewlett-Packard-ex Mark Hurd continues to fight against the public release of an 8-page letter, which allegedly accuses him of sexual harassment concerning his relationship with former actress and HP contractor Jodie Fisher.

“Lawyers representing HP shareholders have started a legal action to have the eight-page letter released. It is under seal in Delaware’s court of chancery”

Hurd’s case has been dubbed as “one of the messiest cases in Silicon Valley history”, as the letter in turn is presumed to detail a meeting Hurd was planning an Electronic Data Systems exec prior to HP’s acquisition of the company for $13.9 billion in 2008.

HP’s internal investigations reported that Hurd is not guilty of sexual harassment, but did concluded that he had submitted inaccurate expense reports to cover-up for his relationship with Fisher. SiliconANGLE covered this case previously as well, as we detailed how the SEC has started an investigation into Hurd’s departure from HP. This departure is the exact same one Oracle founder Larry Ellison called “the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago”, following the appointment of Mark Hurd as the co-president of Oracle. Ellison’s point is probably a correct one, as HP saw a steep drop in share prices due to the Hurd ‘incidence’.
