VocalTec to Compete with Skype and Google Voice with magicTalk
From the company which brought us voice over internet IP (VoIP) and magicJACK, VocalTec announced that a free version of its telephone service will roll out to the global market on, of all dates, the 25th of December. Very similar to the features of magicJACK, magicTALK offers unlimited calls to the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, as well as other magicTALK and magicJACK numbers for free. Installation only takes 60 seconds, and you’re off to making the kind of calls that you normally enjoy with magicJACK from virtually anywhere in the world. The company expects millions of downloads within 90 days.
Owning the largest reaching telecom network in the U.S., magicTALK also beats Skype and Google Voice when it comes to voice quality, ease of installation, price (for now), number of users and customer care, according to a research conducted by globenewswire.com. The company boasts the best quality of phone calls off their service as compared to Skype which charges so much but providing poor call quality, and Google Voice which might be free but drops off a lot and certainly doesn’t match the power of its search engine. magicTALK are also in talks of offering a free phone number, voice mail, directory assistance, call waiting and caller ID as well.
After getting a huge chunk of criticism and bad press starting from the early days of MagicJack, as well as some legal and political red tape, here is VocalTec prevailing, with the release of yet another big thing to the world of telecommunications. Accounting some of the company’s experiences is an interview with magicJack CEO Dan Borislow. For beta download, magicTalk is now available at www.magicTALK.com.
