Verizon Bulks Up Network along East Coast, Hopes to Avoid AT&T’s Network and Legal Failures

Verizon had been investing across Delware’s landline communications network and IT infrastructure last year, to the benefit of both consumers and businesses. The total outlay has amounted $57 million, emphasizing the company’s dedication to building a supporting network for its millions of customers.

The company’s major projects in landline infrastructure include the deployment of 100% fiber-optic FiOS TV and FiOS Internet, which has reached approximately 200,000 homes and business across Delware before the year ended; development of FiOS services in order to advance it in the competition with improvements such as innovative interactive features for FiOS TV, DVR management via broadband or cellphones, and muti-room Media DVR; and finally, the deployment of fiber-optic links to wireless provider’s cell sites throughout the state.

“Through our aggressive investment in the latest technology for consumers and businesses, Verizon is helping to positionDelaware as a technology leader,” said William R. Allan, president of Verizon Delaware. “From the smallest home to the largest business, Verizon’s networks and technology touch lives, and our substantial investments benefit our customers, employees, suppliers and communities.”

Verizon Business provides Delaware’s medium-to large- business and government secure information technology and communications services. It has launched Verizon Mobile Services Enablement platform to hold up and sustain enterprise mobility applications, as well as implement “everything-as-a-service” strategy that introduced Verizon UC&C with Microsoft Online Services, a cloud computing solution. It also gave rise to Verizon Computing-as-a-Service, SMB, a prepaid online cloud service for small and medium businesses.

iPhone sales are slotted to begin soon, and Verizon is really looking to bulk out its network, avoiding many of the issues AT&T had with its network implementation. AT& T is currently being sued by one of its subscriber for overcharging, while Verizon has a pending in court regarding net neutrality regulation.
