Millennial Media Updates Android SDK, Sets Mobile Ad Standards with MMA

Top mobile advertising network Millennial Media had a couple of big announcements today, starting with the launch of the new Android 4.1 SDK. In light of Android’s rapid expansion, this latest release brings some major updates to developers. These are aimed to further strengthen marketers’ ability to maximize the highest CPMs-yielding campaigns Millennial offers; particularly the ones utilizing Full Page Video Ads.

“ This new Android SDK release includes, but is not limited to, the following features and updates:

Creates a quicker, smoother Full Page Video Ad experience with cached video content

Allows interactive elements to be displayed during Full Page Video Ad play, delivering a more engaging experience that yields a higher CPM

Enables transparency for parts of Full Page Image Ads creating a more immersive ad experience that results in a higher CPM”

Other enhancements the latest release carries include simplified SDK code integration for conversion tracking and performance ads, as well as better fill rates and higher eCPM delivery. The new developer kit also enables the use of XML layout as an alternative implementation of Millennial‘s Android SDK.

In addition to its SDK release, Millennial Media had some heavy-hitting news recently. This is of course the announcement Millennial Media is now a Premium Member of the Mobile Marketing Associate – the highest-tier membership in the MMA. Millennial Media “will assume a leadership role in developing an industry wide MMA Mobile Marketing Guide,” which will be designed to be the mobile marketing ecosystem’s ‘bible’, and include case studies, business models, consumer trends and so on.  The recognition really demonstrates Millennial’s position as creating standards in the mobile ad space–it is, of course, one of the benefits of being a leading and independent mobile ad network.

“Millennial Media is a long-time supporter of the MMA both as a board member, and as an active participant on our various committees. Joining as a premium member is a testament to their ongoing leadership and commitment to the industry at large,” said Greg Stuart, CEO of the MMA. “It is strategic initiatives like these and our other key industry programs, that will help accelerate the growth of the mobile marketing marketplace.”

Millennia’s drive towards developing ad standards is one of the benefits of being the #1 independent ad network. And, we’ve mentioned a few other updates from the company recently, including the launch of its Windows Phone 7 SDK and Android’s overthrow of Apple as the largest Smartphone OS on the Millennial network.
