Can You Imagine What Charlie Sheen’s Social Media Manager’s Day Looks Like?
Given the advancements made in the IT&C domain, the increasing use of mobile devices, such as tablets, mobile phones and netbooks that are constantly connected to the internet, it is no wonder that print publishing adapted its ways of reaching the target to market trends. Companies are developing programs that ease the publishing process with specific programs such as Quark and the Adobe Digital Suite in order to maintain their advertising revenues in the new era. Lately, revenues from print advertising have come to see a significant decrease, as people opt for digital content. It is easier to access, and most of the time it’s cheaper to access online editions for newspapers and magazines.
It’s because of this ease-of-use that technology plays a significant role in our lives, and given the fact that most of our daily activities have moved to the online domain, social media has also grown in importance. Through social profiles people create virtual identities for themselves, and sometimes things can get crazy. Just look at Charlie Sheen’s case, who set in the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on Twitter and is now looking for a social media intern for the summer of 2011. Now that Charlie Sheen is on Twitter, can you imagine what his social media managers have to deal with?
A post submitted by Socialcast can. A recent infographic features the typical activities of a social media manager throughout the day, shedding a little light on the matter. Social media managers indeed have a hectic schedule, as they must stay engaged with the online audience 24/7, even if that means checking email after getting up from bed… and right before going to sleep… and setting automatic tweets to go online at a set time so as to reach audiences from other time zones… or to people who have nothing better to do than tweet at night.
For a salary range between $34,432 and $56,571, it is worth sacrificing a few hours a day for writing blog posts or tweets, and retweeting posts, even during meetings, lunch or on the way home from work. Note that social media managers need to stay online at all costs, and also make sure other departments are aware of how important social media channels are for a business. It’s certainly something we know from firsthand experience.
