Brocade’s Michael Klayko Sits with theCube: Talks Networking, Cloud

Brocade’s Michael Klayko just sat down at  theCube with Dave Valente for a live interview during EMC World 2011, where he discussed his company, and the future of networking and the cloud in his eyes (see full interview below).

Klayko started off by discussing some of his company’s recent announcements, and continued to note an observation many seem to agree with: the internet is outpacing datacenters. This big data explosion however, which Klayko highlighted later on as a key factor whenever it comes to Ethernet infrastructure migration, also spurs a tremendous amount of growth and innovation.

How does Brocade monetizes this? According to him, every enterprise datacenter customers wants to be a service provider, and they need wider and more sophisticated networks to accomplish this. Brocade is aiming to become one of the biggest presences in this market, by leveraging their existing global-scale sales channel and customer base, as well as by being the first company to establish Ethernet fabrics as a category of its own.

Klayko emphasized innovation as one of the main drivers Brocade is trying to leverage in order to make a serious dive into the Ethernet world, and noted its solar-powered datacenter & in-line cooling technologies as an indicator of that.

Indeed, Brocade has been very active recently. The Cisco competitor will be demonstrating a demo of a brand new 100 GbE offering soon, which is aimed at service providers looking to bundle in the cloud with their offerings. Moreover, it has recently entered into a service and support agreement with NetSumo to enhance the networking portfolio Brocade has to offer to the UK service provider market.

Brocade has been sticking to its current direction for quite some time now, and has a made a series of very significant efforts to promote its goals. In addition to the latest ones, the company earlier introduced the Brocade VDX(TM) 6720 data center switches.
