Cisco Is Brewing Something Hot, Distracts Investors from Impending Layoffs

News of Cisco’s restructuring and their impending massive lay-off are making investors rethink their portfolios.  With the sales of network switches and routers dropping, you’d think that the company is slowly going down the drain.  But Cisco is still one to watch out for, as it is brewing something big and hot.

First off, Cisco introduced a new technology to enhance cloud computing performance.  Information can now be delivered instantly and securely among many users, devices, more locations be it a private, public, hybrid or community cloud.

“When Cisco set out to design an evolutionary new computing system, we heard from our customers that power, management, and server administration costs were sapping their budgets, leaving few resources for innovation,” said Soni Jiandani, senior vice president, Server Access Virtualization Technology Group, Cisco.

“We aimed to create the ideal, programmable, platform for virtualized and cloud environments with integrated networking and management, flexible and scalable enough to handle any workload. Now with over 5,400 UCS customers, Cisco’s rapid market share growth underscores our leadership in the industry transition to fabric computing and converged infrastructure, and we continue to deliver innovative technology to help solve our customers’ challenges.”

With widespread hacking activities, Cisco came up with two solutions to these problems.  The IronPort Outbreak Filters which is intended to fight off target attacks – simply put, when a user opens a targeted e-mail, the program will encrypt it to prevent the hacking from occurring.  And the Business Class E-mail which features Automatic User Identification, Embedded E-mail Controls, Strong Security and a Universal Device Support which are all aimed to work like a Black Opps Team.

And in the green tech sector, Cisco has partnered with Schneider Electric to work on a technology that will reduce the amount of energy consumption especially in IT, lighting and security systems in corporate establishments.

And last but definitely not least, Mobily, the leading mobile company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, unveiled the first public Cisco TelePresence Suites which will connect 32 worldwide business cities across five continents which makes Cisco a certified global alliance instrument.

Wayne Fullerton, managing director for Cisco in Saudi Arabia, said, “Our goal is to empower customers through technology, and innovations like Cisco TelePresence technology deliver just this. Our collaboration with Mobily to launch the first public Cisco TelePresence room in the Kingdom represents a truly transformational landmark project for Cisco in Saudi Arabia. This is one of the many ways Cisco contributes to the ‘going green’ revolution, a global effort to save our environment for future generations. We look forward to working with Mobily to deploy Cisco TelePresence rooms in many more locations throughout the Kingdom.”
