Google+ Now Available in iTunes App Store

As for a twisted turn of events, though Google and Apple are still battling infringement cases in courts, the Google+ app is now available on iTunes after weeks of trudging through Apple’s approval process.  The app includes the social network’s features, including Circles, Stream and Huddle.

Google Senior Vice President Vic Gundotra announced the iOS Google+ app today. “Share just the right stuff, with just the right circles,” he said.

Its functions and features are the same as those found on its’s Android app, extending Google+’s point of access and moving its social structure even further beyond the realm of Google’s mobile platform and family of Apps.  It’s a big move for Google, as Apple’s been known to block apps that potentially compete with its own services.  Several of Google’s mobile apps have been blocked from the iTunes App Store in the past, and stakes only get higher as Google+ encroaches on the social and personal cloud sphere.

Mobile is a key aspect of Google+ as Google pushes this social initiative, incorporating it into as many access points and existing Google Apps as possible.  I’m sure there’s plenty of iPhone users to take advantage of this new mobile outlet for private media-sharing. And yes, it’s free to download.
