Pano Logic Scales Down VDI for SMBs

Virtual desktop infrastructure vendor Pano Logic debuted two new offerings today, Pano Express SMB and Pano Express HA.  Express SMB and HA are scaled versions of Pano’s VDI in a box solution, designed specifically for small to medium-sized businesses.  A single deployment can support up to 60 ‘power users,’ according to the company.

John Kish, president and CEO of Pano Logic, said “the Pano Express solutions make moving from PC to VC (virtual computing) simple, while easing management burden and radically reducing total cost of ownership.”

The products   are a hardware and software bundle that comes preconfigured, powered by  VMware vSphere 4, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and extended by a maximum of 60 Pano zero client systems. The software layer includes DataCore failover and replication for increased data protection.

The company says that eliminating the whole process of setting up a virtual desktop deployment internally results in greater cost efficiency as enterprises as well as smaller organizations turn to VDI.  Instead, it wraps up all the hardware, software and configuration before the product is even shipped to the customers, simplifying the whole implementation stage.

Not too long ago, IT firm Zonics joined the Pano Logic partner ecosystem of over 250 companies.  This means it has also become a certified reseller of the latter’s product line-up.  Before that, another update we saw from the VDI solutions provider was the launch of Pano System 4.5.  The software brings with it what its maker referred to as a ‘dramatic’ performance boost as well as support for new platforms, namely XenDesktop 5.

From large enterprises to small businesses, Pano is slowly gaining a name for itself.  The local library in Staunton, Virginia for example, replaced its outdated machines with a Pano Logic Zero Client deployment that managed to reduce overhead costs on the long run.
