Quora Goes Mobile, Answers to iOS First

Quora, the question and answer web service, took a big step in solidifying their place amongst web services, as well as broadening their reach as they launched an iOS app version of their service for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The iOS app features the full functionality and content found on their site, loaded with mobile-specific features like a filter for nearby topics, push notifications for new answers to users’ recently asked questions, and more prominent search with brisk autosuggest.

According to co-founder Charlie Cheever, the Quora app greatly differs from other web-based apps, as its development was focused on delivering speed and supporting content consumption, and on inspiring lots more local questions and answers.

Also, the app is fast compared to the web site, as you can go back and forth from stream to question page without reloading the page.

Before, it was noted that Quora is Silicon Valley-centric, but has recently changed, evidenced by the fact that their largest user base by location is now in New York City.

Cheever sees that the next big thing for Quora will be an Android app.  With the Quora app, one’s curiosity and boredom can now be addressed as a world full of questions and answers are in the palm of your hands.  You can download the app here for free.
