FalconStor Partners with Fujitsu to Integrate Storage Offerings

Cloud backup company FalconStor announced a milestone development today, entering into a comprehensive worldwide reseller agreement with Fujitsu to integrate its FalconStor Network Storage Server storage and virtualization management software with a part of the latter’s portfolio.

“With FalconStor NSS, we are providing a strategic technology to Fujitsu that will help its customers manage, protect and expand existing storage installations – while also enabling a service that will help customers migrate to new, more efficient deployments,” said Bernie Wu, vice president of business development for FalconStor.

Fujitsu and its resellers will offer NSS with the electronics giant’s ETERNUS DX disk storage systems. FalconStor NSS will be bundled as a gateway appliance with Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers, which power these systems. In addition, NSS will be available to customers of Fujitsu Professional Services, as well via other service providers within its ecosystem.

FalconStor is looking to grow its market share, and expanding its partner ecosystem as well as strengthening support for third party offerings is one approach the company has been taking recently. The latest version of storage virtualization security suite appropriately named Version 7 introduced a number of new features, as well as extended support for VMware vSphere and VMware VAAAI, as well as VMware vStorage APIs for storage array integration.

Before the launch of Version 7, FalconStor hired Donna Williams as its new vice president of worldwide technical support and Abbas Meghjee as the new head of its North America operations.

Fujitsu is also expanding, and the cloud is one of its main focuses. The company teamed-up with Microsoft to offer its hardware solutions as a part of the preconfigured Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track, a private cloud-in-a-box powered by Microsoft software, PRIMERGY servers and ETERNUS storage, as well as Fujitsu switches.
