MapR Launches Free Online Hadoop Training Program
As we’ve noted there’s an increasing demand for workers with Apache Hadoop skills. But if you’re a developer or IT operations professional, how can you learn more about Hadoop? MapR, a company that sells its own enterprise distribution of Hadoop (see our coverage), announced a new training program today called MapR Academy, which offers free online video training in various aspects of Hadoop.
The videos are categorized by role: developer, administrator or business user. The videos are as follows:
Admin:
- NFS Concepts
- Data Protection
- Container
- Scalability
Developer:
- Writing MapReduce
- NFS Concepts
- Hadoop 101
- Tuning MapReuce
Business user:
- NFS Concepts
- Container
- Hadoop 101
- Hadoop Scalability
There are also videos introducing clusters, mirrors and snapshots and one on enterprise Hadoop. Users can also submit videos from YouTube.
Services Angle
This isn’t a certification program, and though these videos will get you more knowledge they won’t necessarily land you a job. But this looks like a good resource for beginning or extending knowledge in the Hadoop domain.
