Mark Benioff Strengthens Salesforce Social Media Agenda at NYC Keynote
Marc Benioff, the CEO of enterprise SaaS provider Salesforce, has given his latest keynote today during the Cloudforce New York event, sponsored by his company. He focused on the social enterprise, a topic he has been advocating quite enthusiastically in the past few months (to the point Oracle even decided to pull the plug on his speech at its conference, just to rattle the PR campaign’s momentum a bit). The CEO managed to mix in the Arab Spring and the Occupy moment into his speech to emphasize the importance of social media, a trick that has worked quite well in several previous occasions.
One of the main highlights was the new Chatter, which now features some new analytics capacities and includes other additions as well, such as real-time chat, better collaboration and Chatter Customer Groups for for enhanced sharing. In addition,
Salesforce.com is now available for tablet users in HTML5:
“You have all the power of the cloud services, and the security and integrity of the cloud services, but you continue to have the fundamental persistence of cloud computing.” Touch.salesforce.com Salesforce UI around Salesforce.com.“
Benioff’s message had a lot of social enterprise talk, as well as growth expectations. The CEO tried to reassure shareholders after a rather disappointing Q3 call by highlighting some figures and a couple of big contracts his company won in the quarter.
Salesforce is a company that stands behind its CEO’s view as well, with one of the latest examples being the acquisition of cloud consultancy firm Model Metrics earlier this month for an undisclosed amount.
