Samsung Beats Apple Again: Australian Ban Lifted
Samsung is on a roll. After dodging a US ban on their Galaxy smartphones and tablets, and having the German ban on their tablet lifted, the gadget maker celebrates another victory in Australia, where the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been lifted there as well.
According to a report from Bloomberg, “Chief Justice Robert French, on behalf of the three-judge High Court panel, said today that Apple failed to persuade them that it could win on appeal and denied the company a hearing. He reinstated an appeal court judgment lifting the ban on the Galaxy 10.1 tablets in Australia.”
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be sold in the Australian market just in time for the crucial holiday shopping season–a week or so before Christmas. Though Australia is not the biggest market by number, it plays quite a significant role in the mobile space as Apple launches their products in Australia after they goes out in the US market.
Though Samsung seems to be in a lucky streak, their appeal for a preliminary sales ban in France against the iPhone 4S was denied. The French called the request out of proportion and ordered Samsung to pay 100,000 euros ($133,900) to Apple for legal fees.
Samsung is anticipating as to whether the case they filed in Italy will be in their favor or not. The hearing will be held on December 16.
