AppMobi’s New Platform Provides In-Game Analytics
App development solutions maker AppMobi introduced its latest product today, a software development kit for developers that’s specifically designed to power HTML5-based applications. The company has managed to pack a long list of features into PlayMobi, encompassing a great many deal of the different elements in mobile games. The two main highlights include the cross-platform “smart” in-game purchases engine, and the second is the analytics platform that enables developers to optimize their games based on user behavior.
The microtransactions gateway that comes with the PlayMobi API differentiates itself from other in-app payment gateways by automatically detecting the device the customer is using, and then connecting them with the appropriate storefront. For example, iPhone holders are redirected to iTunes and Android users are serviced by Google Payments, while regular web users are greeted by PayPal.
The second big thing about PlayMobi is the analytics engine. The idea is that AppMobi detects gameplay trends and usage anomalies to allow developers a deeper look into their product. They can then use this insight to modify overly simplified or particularly hard levels, fix exploits and so on. Here’s a specific example from the release the company sent out this morning:
“Because high-score cheating is an issue on the open Web, playMobi allows developers to create rules-based checks on posted scores, eliminating most score hacks and protecting leaderboard validity. Integrating playMobi analytics into a game is simply a matter of adding the playMobi JavaScript library and a few lines of JavaScript code.”
The new SDK features several other add-ons as well, with a strong focus on social integration. It’s all written in JavaScript, a language and ecosystem where AppMobi has made a name for itself. This is thanks to its recently launched JS framework, which was specifically developed to cater mobile users.
