Cloudant Developer Paul Davis Joins Apache CouchDB Project Management Committee
As I reported earlier this year, Cloudant is refocusing its development efforts towards Apache CouchDB by merging its open source Big Couch into the main Apache CouchDB project. The move followed CouchDB creator Damien Katz’s exit from the CouchDB project in favor of working on Couchbase (which acquired CouchOne, the company Katz co-founded to commercialize CouchDB).
Now Cloudant developer Paul Davis is joining the Apache CouchDB Project Management Committee (PMC).
Apache CouchDB release manager Noah Slater wrote on the CouchDB mailing list:
Paul Joseph Davis, a long time contributor to the CouchDB project, has been appointed to the PMC. He’s an asset to this community, and we’re delighted to have him on board. Please take a moment to congratulate him and show your appreciation for all his hard work so far.
Davis joined Cloudant last summer. His appointment to the PMC should ensure the smooth merger between BigCouch and CouchDB. According to Jan Lehnardt PMC is not a technical committee.
