AllClear Launches ID Mobile, Empowers Consumers to Protect Themselves
AllClear is putting security matters into consumers’ hands with AllClear Mobile ID for iOS. The new app will alert consumers when retailers, law enforcement and cyber security experts report that thieves have access to consumers’ bank account, credit cards, and Social Security Numbers. It also simplifies the process of activating more than 20 very powerful, yet free identity apps available in today’s market.
This offering is made possible through the partnership between AllClear ID and National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance, with a heavy focus on data. Caches of stolen consumer data have become a staple when cyber security experts pursue cyber criminals ,and are then reported to NCFTA. For the first time, consumers will be directly alerted through the AllClear ID Mobile app when their personal info has been compromised and give them access to NCFTA report.
“This is the first and only app to organize the most powerful free protections in one place, making it easy for people to discover and activate the ones they care most about,” said Bo Holland, CEO of AllClear ID. “Whenever you have five minutes of downtime, you can use your phone to activate another protection and share it with you friends and family.”
While protecting identities may sound easy, it’s not really a simple matter to pick out the right tools and resources. Given the number of security tools for mobile today, it can be time-consuming, confusing and overwhelming. But nonetheless, AllClear is committed to allowing consumers to protect themselves efficiently and effectively.
The app comes with tips on protecting your device, services that can help you monitor your consumer data and even deals from relevant retailers. The result is a cohesive service that gives personalized consumer alerts as well as general, bridging the gap between cybercriminal activity and consumer education at scale. It’s a trend that’s rather specific to the mobile space, given the amount of personal data that goes through a smartphone or tablet at any given time.
It’s tricky to stay ahead of the curve when cybercriminals seem to evolve at every act of prevention, but all that personal data stored on your phone can put you at risk in the presence of a nosy neighbor. A recen study conducted by Symantec reveals that people just love prying on lost smartphones. The research group intentionally lost 50 mobile phones in 5 cities and discovered that people can’t help but access it, and even look into business and banking data. To address this, AllClear skips device data storage all together, encrypting and storing files on its secure servers. It’s an effort to keep your personal data from being accessed by malware and prying eyes alike, and precautions such as those taken by AllClear are recommended to mobile app developers as initiative for protecting end user data.
The trend towards personalized security alerts is furthered by Lookout, which has built its success around protecting Android devices in particular. Its latest app detects ad networks on your device and shows you what data is being taken, and how it’s being used.
