Red Hat Follows up JBoss Launches with Three More

Open-source software kingpin Red Hat announced updates to a few of its products, just a few days after a similar-sized roll out.

This morning the company debuted the latest release of its Enterprise Business Rules Management System. BRMS 5.3 introduces new business process management and CEP capabilities via the newest version of jBPM, the core solution that the platform is based on. It supports the Business Process Modeling Notation 2.0 standard, features smoother integration with business rules according to Red Hat, and also includes an enhanced interface that simplifies some of the more complicated functionality for the end user.

“The ability to execute business rules, processes and complex events is the cornerstone to building a highly-intelligent, well-integrated enterprise. JBoss Enterprise BRMS 5.3 drives our customers toward this goal by helping them become more intelligent and agile. It includes a powerful combination of features that, together with our affordable subscription model, offer an enormous amount of business value.”

Also today, the developer revealed version 5.3 of the JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform and the JBoss Enterprise Data Services Platform. They now both support jBPM 5, as well as the Apache Camel integration engine. SOA can now be deployed with the HornetQ enterprise messaging tool and not just Red Hat Enterprise MRG Messaging, while security has been improved with the ability to implement SAML authentication.

Data Services Platform 5.3 can connect to Greenplum Database, PostgresSQL 9, and Red Hat Directory Server 9 in addition to all the other services it already supported, and more automation has been added in the form of what Red Hat called XLM-based ‘cheat sheets.’

Last week the vendor unveiled another set of updates.  Among them was the latest edition of its EAP in-memory NoSQL database and upgrades to the OpenShift PaaS.
