Fujitsu Picks Datameer to Power its New Big Data System
Fujitsu struck an alliance with big data startup Datameer to jointly sell and market a new offering that couples their technology to power on-premise analytics. The System Solution for Enterprise Big Data Analysis will only be available in Japan.
Fujitsu is touting its integrated solution as an out-of-the-box system that can be used to analyze data on an enterprise scale immediately. It’s a combination of hardware and other components from the Japanese manufacturer’s portfolio and Datameer’s big data software appliance, which serves as the direct interface between the user and the platform’s capabilities.
“Businesses understand the increasing importance of analytics while also recognizing that new technologies and solutions are needed to address the variety, velocity and complexity of today’s data,” said Stefan Groschupf, CEO of Datameer. “The Datameer and FMCS partnership will make it easier for users to quickly get to the business insights they need.”
Datameer’s product features 25 connects that can integrate both unstructured and structure data streams into an environment, while a big portion of the remaining functionality is point and click based. That simplifies things considerably and translates into business users being able to access and manipulate data directly, rather than having to wait for decisions to make their up and down the corporate ladder.
Datameer is growing its presence across a number of geographical regions and verticals at the same time. Today we’ve learned that its software will be resold locally by one of the biggest IT vendors in Japan, and last month the company announced that it’s making one free license available to academic users.
Fujitsu in turn has been getting working on expanding its channel, and reached an agreement with QLogic not too long ago that allows it to use the networking firm’s 8200 Series adapters.
