CumuLogic Gets Startup Accelerator Funding from Citrix
Cloud Java startup CumuLogic is the latest chosen by Citrix to join its incubator program. Neither party disclosed how much seed funding exchanged hands, but it’s a big boost for CumuLogic nonetheless.
The Citrix Startup Accelerator was created in celebration of the 15th anniversary virtualization firm’s initial public offering with the goal of making 12 investments within 18 months. That goal was met, with names such as GlassHouse and PrimeDesk on the list, now joined by yet another company. These startups all gain access to not only capital but also office space, training and other resources.
“We are excited to have CumuLogic join the Citrix Startup Accelerator program. Enterprise adoption of cloud infrastructure is moving from simple Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) to new classes of applications designed specifically for the cloud,” said Martin Duursma, the vice president of Citrix Labs and the company’s CTO. “CumuLogic provides enterprises with PaaS-like capabilities by providing a dynamically scalable application framework that integrates with any public or private IaaS cloud to deliver on this new hybrid cloud environment.”
CumuLogic’s offering is a platform-as-a-service tailored for enterprise applications written in the Java programming language. The solution was compatible with CloudStack, Citrix’s venture into IaaS, along with vSphere.
Late last week CumuLogic expanded the number of supported platforms with the addition of integration with HP Cloud Services. Users of the OpenStack-based cloud have the option of test running the solution for 30 days before committing to a subscription.
Backer Citrix hasn’t been nearly as active lately, but a few months ago it did have a notable acquisition. The firm bought out Bytemobile, a developer of optimization solutions that lists 130 telcos as clients and is providing Citrix with a very solid entry into this particular mobile vertical.
