Embark for iPhone 5 Sees Success as an Apple Maps Aid
If you’re an iPhone 5 user or your device’s iOS has been upgraded to iOS 6, and aren’t too pleased with Apple’s new Maps, you can try the apps found here. On the list is a public transit app called Embark, which was quick to update for iOS 6 support.
Embark delivers some of the most accurate, step-by-step directions tailored to specific metropolitan regions, giving riders the fastest routes to their destinations. The plus side is, their public transit apps integrate closely with the new Apple Maps.
“We believe it should be easy to get around big cities in the age of the smartphone,” said Embark CEO David Hodge. “With our support for iOS 6, iPhone 5, and the new Apple Maps, we’re making sure transit riders always have access to the information that they need to get where they want to go.”
And the strategy’s paid off. Embark announced this week that their free mobile public transit apps have eclipsed 40 million trips routed, including 1.3 million trips and 100,000 downloads since iOS 6 launched. Which just means more people trust Embark more than Apple’s new Maps, so they should really thank Apple. ;)
Since January of this year, Embark claims they’ve logged a million downloads across their mobile transit apps as they cater to every major U.S. metropolitan area.
