A Big Data Rescue Mission for Sandy Storm Survivors

The East coast has been drenched with “Frakenstorm” Hurricane Sandy and once again this highlights how social media and Big Data come to the front with any large scale human event—we’ve seen Big Data put to use for disaster prediction and prevention, as well as social media projects rise out of citizen journalism during Sandy; of course, social media can get extremely exaggerated and mobile social became the primary communication in the aftermath of the storm.

Although the expo was right in the path of the storm, Google didn’t let Sandy dampen their spirits upon the launch of the Nexus 7. If you were wondering what Android device from this family was the right one for you, look no further than SiliconANGLE coverage of the subject. And, on the mobile/pad front: look to Nexus 7 vs. iPad mini vs. Kindle Fire HD.

Finally, if you’re into virtualization and archectural transformation, read up on Bert Latamore’s take on how CIOs can objectify their data centers.

To everyone who got caught in Hurricane Sandy’s wake, keep hope and stay dry from the SiliconANGLE team.
