Nokia Outsources 820 Jobs to HCL, Tata
As part of its latest round of streamlining and cost reduction efforts announced in June 2012, cellular handset maker Nokia is outsourcing approximately 820 jobs to HCL and Tata Consultancy Services. It is also cutting an additional 300 jobs. The reductions come at a moment when Nokia is exceeding expectations in handset sales and are the last cuts in the cost reduction program. More
EMC Names EMC Isilon Leader in Scale-Out File-Based Storage Market
IDC has positioned EMC Isilon as a leader in its new IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Scale-Out File-Based Storage 2012 Vendor Analysis report, based on Isilon’s functionality and market success. IDC writes that “EMC’s portfolio encompasses a variety of storage products for the entry, midrange and enterprise levels that serve numerous use cases.” More
Department of Veterans Affairs Hires HP to Improve Operations, Healthcare Services
HP Enterprise Services has signed a maximum value US $543 million Indefinite delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Real-Time Location System (RTLS) contract with the U.S. department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to procure and deploy a management system to assist the automation of operations and veteran healthcare services. HP will assist the VA in enhancing patient-centric healthcare while reducing program operational costs by standardizing clinical and business practices and monitoring IT services. More
HP Board Declares Regular Dividend
The HP board of directors has declared a regular cash dividend of 13.2 cents per share on the company’s common stock. The dividend is payable on April 2 to stockholders of record at the close of business on March 13. HP has approximately 2 billion shared of common stock outstanding. More

IBM has announced marketing and sales innovations allowing retailers to deliver a consistent shopping experience for consumers across multiple touch points including brick-and-mortar stores, mobile, and online. Thirty-five percent of respondents to IBM’s global survey of 26,000 customers are considering diversifying the way they buy goods and services in the future. Dell Mobile Clinical Computing System Saves Money while Enhancing Mobility and Security for Healthcare Providers
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has saved more than $600,000 while enhancing the productivity of clinicians in its Family Medicine Residency Program using Dell’s Mobile Clinical Computing (MCC) system, according to a study by Forrester Consulting. TMH, which serves 16 counties in North Florida and South Georgia, participated in a year-long pilot study of the system at its Family Medicine Residency Program, involving 55 physicians who were simultaneously adopting a new electronic medical records system. MMC combines desktop virtualization, single-sign-on, an strong authentication with expert consulting, implementation, and support services. More
