HDTV Buying Guide for Super Bowl 2013

Super Bowl XLVII will kick off on February 3, 2013 in Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans at 6:30 PM ET.

There’s no better way to enjoy the Super Bowl than being in the bleachers, but we can’t all be there for the live game.  So what’s the next best thing?  Watching it on a large HDTV!  But aren’t those expensive?  dealnews says, not entirely.

According to dealnews’ latest HDTV price guide, if you’re looking for 60” LCD HDTV, branded ones are at around $900 but during Black Friday, the price was as low as $688.  And because of the Super Bowl, consumers can expect the $900 price to lower, maybe even as low as $688.  If the price seems steep and you aren’t brand conscious, you can always go for third-tier models, which costs under $750, such as the Westinghouse 60” LCD HDTV.

If 60 inches is too big, go for a 55” LCD HDTV, which has 3D capabilities.  Though at CES 2013, it was made known that 3D is no longer the “It” feature.  Ultra HD or 4K HDTV is.  As for the price of 55” 3D HDTV, dealnews says the price you should be looking at is below $800 for branded TVs, $700 or below for non-3D 55” HDTV, while third-tier sets will likely be somewhere between $547 and $649.

As for smaller HDTVS, consumers are looking at $200 for 32”, roughly $300 for 42” branded HDTV, and $400 for 46” and 47” sets.

If you’ll be watching the game on your third screen, then you can enjoy live streaming coverage of the Super Bowl on CBSSports.com.  If you have a satellite radio, you can also tune in to Sirus XM Radio: 88.
