SugarSync Adds Unlimited Cloud Storage to Attract Business Users
Cloud sync provider SugarSync upgraded its business pricing plans to better accommodate large organizations with lots of files and large user bases. It’s the latest development from the cloud service as it transitions deeper into the enterprise space, having won over the consumer market.
SugarSync for Business now starts at a flat price of $55 per month, or a discounted rate of $550 per year for companies that don’t want to renew their subscription every 30 days. The deal includes unlimited storage and a cap of three seats that can be raised on-demand for $125 per additional user.
“Businesses of all sizes use SugarSync to accelerate productivity and collaboration,” said Laura Yecies, CEO of SugarSync. “We have witnessed the ultimate example of consumerization of IT over the past year, including tremendous adoption of our service by businesses that are storing more and more data in the Cloud each day. We want to allow companies of all sizes and their teams to have the capacity they need at an affordable price, without having to worry about quotas or storage.”
SiliconAngle news editor Kristen Nicole caught up with Yecies in October 2012 as a part of her CEO Series. The executive shared her view of file syncing, and disclosed her plans to reach new verticals by partnering with applications providers and pursuing opportunities in “everything from media to webmail.” She also talked about the consumer, and explains how the cloud can help moms manage a work-life balance. It’s clear that SugarSync has learned a great deal from the consumer and their impact on IT, and Yecies is applying those lessons to the business class with enterprise-ready tools.
SugarSync’s growth is propelled by partnerships and R&D. A month after Yecies gave her interview, the company completely overhauled its client applications with UI changes and a new and feature that makes it easier to manage files. SugarSync Drive is a dashboard that allows you to keep track of all the data you have synced across your personal cloud, including mobile phones and PCs.
