Collegefeed Beta Launches to Help Students Kick Start Careers

San Jose-based Collegefeed is announcing its beta launch today. The new social platform for college students, new graduates and job-hunters is the brainchild of Google’s longtime Head of Products, Sanjeev Agrawal. Created as an early career marketplace, Collegefeed has been designed to solve two problems:

  1. 50 percent of college grads can’t get hired
  2.  Yet every sized company still struggles to attract the right candidates

“With over half of recent college grads stuck unemployed, we saw an opportunity for social and real-time technologies to play a part in solving this very serious problem,” said Sanjeev Agrawal, founder and CEO of Collegefeed. “That’s how we came up with Collegefeed. Think of it as an early career marketplace for anyone ready to enter the workforce. Whether you’re dreaming of a job in the fashion industry or dying to be on the ground-floor of the next Facebook, Collegefeed brings the process of starting a career into the 21st century – making it ten times easier, faster, cheaper and ultimately, more successful.”

Both jobseekers and employers can benefit with Collegefeed. Here’s how:

For Jobseekers – All they have to do is to create a quick, personalized profile on Collegfeed by logging-in via Facebook or LinkedIn. They then get a customized news feed of jobs, internships and relevant company updates. Jobseekers network with leading employers and alums, share interview and hiring experiences from fellow candidates or win financial prizes from sponsoring companies. It becomes the go-to place for students and grads.

For Employers – To date, companies spend 10K+ to find the perfect candidate. Now with Collegefeed, companies big and small can finally increase their visibility and mindshare across hundreds, even thousands of campuses, with a simple LinkedIn or Facebook sign-up. They create and use Collegefeed’s easy branded pages to reach exponentially more candidates, reducing what was a time-consuming, expensive process. Employers can even push relevant content to a student’s newsfeed to grab their attention.

During the closed beta period numerous students and grads have already been offered jobs, internships, interviews and awards from companies like Morgan Stanley, eBay, Go Daddy and more. Again, today is the beta launch for Silicon Valley universities and businesses. The public launch will happen in May 2013 to coincide with the new crop of 2013 graduates. Full nationwide coverage by Fall 2013.

Collegefeed was introduced in February 2013 as a closed beta for students at UC Berkeley and professionals at eBay Inc., who got the chance to pilot the new service. With today’s launch, Students from Silicon Valley universities Stanford, UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley can use the new service before its official launch in May 2013 by signing up at http://collegefeed.com.

Nationwide coverage of Collegefeed will be by the end of the year.
