Communications Service Providers Need New Technologies, Business Models, to Support Customers’ Data-Hungry Networks

Communications service providers (CSPs) are being compelled to consider new operating models and adopt new transformation technologies to meet the combination of economic challenges and declining voice and text revenues, on the one hand and customer QoS expectations on data-intensive networks on the other, says a new Accenture study. The survey, “Evolutionary Trends in the Operations of CSP Networks: How the Migration to Broadband data Services is Shifting the Paradigm of Network Operations”, was designed to explore the evolutionary trends in CSP network operations and identify the main drivers of change and lessons learned from new operating models they are using. Accenture to Enable Aadhaar ID System for Government of Punjab

Accenture has won a 12-month contract for technology & management consulting services to reengineer and implement the way beneficiary programs are delivered in Punjab under the Aadhaar biometric identification program. The contract will help the State Government of Punjab identify eligible citizens and eliminate duplicate and incorrect records for the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. More


Accenture to Help Rail Solutions Deliver New Systems for Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori

Accenture and SNCF subsidiary Rail Solutions have delivered a range of passenger-focused systems for new Italian rail operator Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV). These include an advanced reservation and distribution platform, a revenue management system, and a CRM system. Italy’s first private high speed rail operator and one of the newest in Europe, NTV runs state-of-the-art “Italo” trains linking Italy’s major cities and offers enhanced services including passenger WiFi, an on-board entertainment portal, and a cinema carriage. Microsoft, NBC Sports Group to Deliver Programming Across Digital Platforms using Azure

Microsoft Corp. and the NBC Sports Group have partnered to use Windows Azure Media Services across NBC Sports’ digital platforms, including NBCSports.com, NBCOlympics.com, and GolfChannel.com.
