Your Complete Guide to Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013 will be kicking off on May 15-17, 2013 at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, CA.

Google invites attendees to be inspired by the tech world’s latest web, mobile and social breakthroughs to better the lives of people with simple, life-improving technologies and viable businesses among a rich and diverse community of cutting edge developers.

Expect to see the latest developments in Google products and technologies such as Android, Google+, Google Chrome, Google Glass, Google Apps, App Engine and other Google Cloud Platform products, Maps, Commerce, Google TV, and more.

Unfortunately, if you weren’t able to purchase tickets for the event, there won’t be any available onsite as the event is already sold out.  Lucky attendees will get to enjoy three full days of sessions, product demos, admission to the After Hours reception, attendance at the keynotes, as well as complimentary breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day along with food and drinks at After Hours.  Attendees will also be receiving a conference badge and t-shirt and may be offered additional gifts.

If you can’t be in San Francisco for the event, even if you’re dying to go, you can search for local Google I/O Extend happening in your area or near you.  Google I/O Extend is a set of local viewing parties hosted by Google offices, Google Developer Groups (GDGs), and student ambassadors. Check out the Google I/O Extend Map to see where the nearest viewing party is happening.

If you’re that unlucky that there’s no viewing party near you, you can check out the latest buzz on Google I/O 2013 by adding it on Google+ or checking the Google Developers Blog.  You can also catch the live stream at Google Developers Live.

You can also download the Google I/O 2013 app optimized for tablets and phones running Android 2.3 or higher.

The app allows you to view the conference agenda, edit personal schedule, sync schedule, view detailed session, code lab, office hours, and speaker information, including speaker bios, photos, and Google+ profiles, +1 sessions right from the app, participate in public #io13 conversations on Google+, guide yourself using the vector-based conference map, get a reminder a few minutes before sessions in your schedule are due to start.

To help with navigation and choice, you can view information about companies in the Developer Sandbox, keep up with announcements from the I/O team during the conference, and view your schedule on your Android 3.0+ device’s home and lock screens using widget.

For those who want to multitask you can even play “I/O Live” session video streams on your Android 3.0+ devices, beam session details from your Android 4.0 NFC-enabled device to another using Android Beam, and scan attendee badges on your NFC-enabled device.

No word yet on who will be giving Keynote presentations, but we’ll keep you posted.
