Appcelerator Takes Data-Driven Development Suite to the Enterprise
The mobile industry is steadily warming up to Big Data. Developers are seeking out new sources of competitive advantage, and gaining a better understanding of their users and applications is often at the top of their lists.
This week, Appcelerator entered the fray with an end-to-end development suite for the enterprise that includes data-driven tools for integrating with backend systems, testing applications and boosting user engagement.
The heart of the newly announced Appcelerator Platform is a Titanium-based IDE that allows developers to create native apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and the mobile web. The tool is supplemented by Alloy, a program that lets web designers craft pages using XML and a simplified version of CSS.
In addition to these applications, Appcelerator’s new suite sports an impressive set of cloud-based services. These include push notifications, authorization and a data integration app that makes it easier for developers to tap into their organizations’ backend Oracle, SAP and SharePoint deployments.
These products are joined by a testing environment, an analytics solution that maps user adoption, engagement and retention, and a performance manager that tracks application performance in real-time. The suite is also integrated with Appcelerator’s online add-on marketplace, which contains over 370 third-party modules for the various tools.
“Mobile offers businesses massive opportunities to transform customer relationships and gain competitive advantage,” states Jeff Haynie, Appcelerator CEO. “Appcelerator solutions provide a safe, proven choice for enterprises trusted by thousands of companies and over 450,000 mobile developers. The Appcelerator Platform was built from the ground-up for the needs of the new mobile world to enable businesses to create, deliver, and analyze exceptional mobile experiences across their entire mobile portfolio.”
Earlier this week, we reported that Telerik launched a unified backend framework for mobile apps. The platform features an integrated data navigator, an HTML5 data visualization tool and a number of other solutions.
