iPad Games List Boosted by Knights of the Old Republic Release

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is without doubt one of the best Star Wars games and role-playing games of all time. Launched for the first time in 2003 on the Microsoft Xbox, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is considered as one of the best games in the gaming world.

Knights of the Old Republic received much praise for saying solid story that really balanced between the light and the dark. It is almost course of a game that takes place in a universe where the battle between the good Jedi and the dark side is a very important theme.

Now it is time for a new generation to try the classical game on iPad. Aspyr Media announced that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is available now on the Apple App Store exclusively for iPad.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, also known as the KOTOR, put on stage an adventure that took place four centuries before the advent of the Galactic Empire. At that time, the Old Republic is threatened by an armada of forces Sith Lord Darth Malak. A group of adventurers in the service of the Republic and the Jedi then go in search of clues about the origin of the Sith menace.

“Being able to bring one of the most beloved Star Wars games to iPad for such a momentous event is an incredible honor,” said Elizabeth Howard, Aspyr’s vice president of publishing. “We have a long history at Aspyr of bringing the best games to Apple platforms, and as bona fide fans of the original release, we’ve worked to ensure that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for iPad lives up to its prodigious reputation.”

The new version has been optimized for the system interface via touch screen and contains all the content of the original game. On the iPad, you have the eight planets of the original version, the same level of character customization, and all the other contents.

The game is structured in turn-based combat, and players can choose from three types of characters, using the different powers. The movement of the characters is done by moving the finger across the screen. To run it, you need a second generation iPad or higher and at least 2.5GB of free storage in the flash memory of the tablet.

Frozen Synapse Arrives on iPad

Described as “the ultimate tactical game” by its designer, the independent team Mode 7 announced Frozen Synapse availability on iPad. This mobile version of the much-loved video games, previously arrived on PC, contains both single and multiplayer that those of the original game. The developers have done an important job of finishing the game interface, to ensure that the particularities are exploited to its fullest on a system like the iPad.

Regarding the quality of adaptation on iPad, it should be noted that it has better visibility with an iPad 3 or 4, and the game on iPad Mini may pose some problems. The iPad release features 5 challenging multiplayer modes, including the innovative bidding-based “Secure” and “Hostage Rescue”, powerful Skirmish Generator, and 55-mission single player campaign.

Frozen Synapse is available to download in the App Store for $6.99 and is optimized for the iPad only.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown making move to App Store

At PAX East this past March, it was announced that the ultra-popular desktop and console strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown from Firaxis would be heading to the iPad. It has now confirmed that the iOS version of  XCOM: Enemy Unknown will support cloud saves, which means that players will be able to stop the game on iPad, and resume from the same point on iPhone. In addition, the title will also include multiplayer mode, though this feature will be added only later through the release of a free update.

According to statements by publisher 2K Games XCOM: Enemy Unknown will offer the full game, but with fewer maps, and lower textured resolution than the PC version, due to the limitations of the iOS hardware platforms. In addition, Lead designer on the project Jake Solomon confirmed that the upcoming port will not have any sort of gross pay-to-win power-up scheme. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is scheduled on the App Store during the summer.
