3 Alternatives to Storify : New Chapter Unfolds with Livefyre Acquisition
Livefyre, a commenting platform used by many websites, announced on Twitter that it has acquired Storify, the social curation startup, for an undisclosed amount.
“Livefyre’s StreamHub platform powers real-time conversation and social curation for over 400 of the world’s largest brands and publishers. Storify helps over 850,000 marketers and journalists at these same companies tell stories online using social content. So it seemed only natural for us to acquire Storify and integrate drag-and-drop editorial curation capabilities into our StreamHub platform,” Jordan Kretchmer, Founder and CEO of Livefyre, posted.
So what does this deal mean for Storify? Will anything be changing? Ostensibly, the service will stay the same, with Business and VIP users granted continued access to the features included in these subscriptions. But in the long run, Storify’s VIP product will be integrated into Livefyre’s enterprise offering which would allow publishers and brands blend social media into everything they do.
But will they be able to stick to that promise or will Storify users just one day wake up and realize it’s no longer the same service they grew to love?
In the off chance that Storify does evolve into something people no longer like to use, what other social curation services they can opt for?
