Official Sony PlayStation 4 app for iOS and Android shares PlayStation Network features
PlayStation 4 is about to make its release in the United States, and Sony does not want to leave any loose ends for all attending the November 15 to pick up new console and want to make the most of the new generation console from day one.
On the eve of the release of the new PlayStation 4 console, Sony has released a new PlayStation 4 version of its companion app on Apple Play Store and Google Play. Following on from the previous version appeared in 2011, it allows you to use your smartphone or tablet as a second screen or as a remote console.
The app has an interface very similar to the PS4 and will allow you to access the social features of the console, such as messages or friends list, even remotely. The ‘Connect to PS4’ will enable your device to become a second screen for games like Knack or software augmented reality The Playroom.
The PlayStation app also provides access to the PlayStation Store to buy games and add-ons and download them to the console, as well as various manuals and user guides related to the PS4. Sony has not is not forgotten the social part with the ability to chat with friends the Sony Entertainment Network and discover the games they are currently using. It allows you to be aware what friends are playing, compare those trophies, view profiles and past actions, receive notifications and invitations.
Your mobile device will become a real accessory to match your console and will work as a keyboard for entering text in the chat during the game sessions. Sony has also hinted that the app could have streaming functions, including playing on the phone some PlayStation 4 titles.
The app has the same functionality for Android and iPhone, but it’s not optimized for tablets on either platform. If you have a U.S. account you can immediately begin to familiarize yourself with the application. A Sony Entertainment Network account and the PS4 system are both required to use all of the app’s features.
