Google Glass gets Hang w/, one of the top mobile apps of 2013
Streaming live video is definitely the hot category in the social media space. There’s nothing quite like being able to watch someone live, comment on the action as it happens, get actual responses from the broadcaster and have a conversation with other viewers.
MEDL Mobile, the maker, developer, and marketer of mobile apps, last year introduced Hang w/ that allowed live real-time video to be sent from one phone to many.
The goal of the platform is twofold: to become the premiere social media network for people around the globe to connect, communicate and share experiences via live streaming broadcasts–and to enable celebrities and public figures to easily monetize their fan bases. The mobile app became one of the top grosser app in both Android and iOS platform.
Capitalizing and extending on this success in 2014, MEDL Mobile at the recently concluded CES show confirmed that Hang w/ would be coming to the Google Glass device.
Hang w/ platform is very simple to use where any user can be a broadcaster or follower to broadcast live to thousands of viewers. The technology is a perfect companion for the Google Glass technology. By using Hang w/ for Google Glass, users can now have the freedom of hands-free broadcast and the app can give a more natural experience to viewers.
“We believe Hang w/ is a killer app for Google Glass,” said Andrew Maltin, CEO. “The idea of being able to broadcast hands-free and share everything you are seeing via live streaming video is incredibly exciting.”
MEDL have teamed up with the “Monsters of Tech”, a group of social media influencers who will be amongst the first people to use the combined technologies. The group member include Robert Scoble, Thomas Hawk, Chris Voss, Andy Grignon, John Nosta, Ron Sheridan and Joel Comm. Robert Scoble is a noted tech evangelist and the founder of the Scobleizer technology blog. He is the most visible of the Google Glass Explorers and a prominent supporter of Google’s wearable tech.
“The Monsters love playing with new technology and we can’t wait to get our hands on Hang w/ for Google Glass,” said Chris Voss of the Chris Voss Show and Monsters of Tech. “I’m sure we’ll see lots of people wearing Glass at CES, but we’ll be the only ones streaming live while doing it.”
Google Glass is still to get an official release date and following the feedback of the Monsters of Tech, Hang w/ will probably see several iterations before it comes out of beta and appears on the app stores.
