IoT developers feel the love with new API directory and conference

geek office mug vtug winter warmer 2014 2The month of August ushers in a new addition to SiliconANGLE’s Smart World Series, called Smart DevOps, showcasing the tools, platforms and products geared towards developers making apps for connected devices.

To kick things off, this week’s Smart DevOps features a directory for APIs dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT), and a conference that centers on APIs.

Connect2.me

If you’re a developer looking for the latest application programming interface (API) or software development kit (SDK) to work on, or a beginner who wants to get in on the action bubbling up around IoT, then check out Connect2.me, powered by Plasma Business Intelligence, Inc.

Connect2.me is a directory for devices, APIs and SDKs for the Internet of Things. It’s a place where device makers can list their devices and APIs and where developers can browse APIs that can help them with their own projects.

At present, the site seems to cater to more consumer products, but Connect2.me CEO Yasser Khan believes that the service will also benefit those in the public sector.

“There are obvious use cases here for monitoring utilities, or system maintenance in the public sector, a lot of that is being handled with sensors or other middleware right now, but it’s still early days. Developers will continue to work through finding new options. With the marketplace, sourcing those points of collaboration may be easier,” Khan stated.

I Love APIs conference

Apigee Corporation, a company that delivers technology platform for digital business acceleration, recently released more information about this year’s I Love APIs Conference.  The conference is all set for September 8-10, 2014 at Fort Mason in San Francisco, CA.

The event focuses on APIs and attendees can easily expand their developer network in this three-day event.  Keynote speakers include the First Chief Technology Officer of the United States Aneesh Chopra, DirecTV SVP, IT strategy and innovation Frank Palase, Target Senior Group manager Heather Mickman, and many others.

Unique to this conference is the new immersive IoT exhibit showcasing industry-first innovations moving the IoT from buzzword to reality.

“We’ve recruited some of the brightest minds in the business to show and tell how they’re leading digital transformation,” said Chet Kapoor, Apigee CEO. “With three days of hands-on content and demonstrations, ‘I Love APIs’ will provide attendees with the front-row insight they need to understand the key elements of today’s digital world, such as APIs, the IoT and predictive analytics. These trends aren’t just buzzwords, they are forces changing the market.”
